14th Women World Champion was decided on a tie-break after Antoaneta Stefanova and Anna Ushenina exchanged wins in the 3rd and 4th final match games with the classical time control. The first rapid game ended in a draw, and the Ukrainian took the upper hand in the second. Anna Ushenina is a new world champion!

In the first rapid game Stefanova got a minimal advantage with White, but after the central break the position simplified and balanced. Grandmaster from Bulgaria tried to trick her opponent for a long time, torturing her until move 89, but Ushenina was confident in her defense. Draw.

In the second game Ushenina had White and demonstrated an opening novelty to capture the initiative. In the unknown situation Stefanova used most of her time, but did not manage to find the way to equalize the position. White won a pawn, then second one. It was not difficult for Ushenina to win the final position with two connected passed pawns in the rook endgame.

Few moves before resigning Antoaneta decided to check the score sheet which was kept by an arbiter – maybe there was a threefold repetition?
